El Santo Turce

Bombed up in Old San Juan this weekend. Here is my piece. A statement and a play on words at the same time....SAN TURCE! El Santo Turce, our street art/urban art protector.

This is the piece that made it up on the wall. It is part of a 50 artist collective placing art all over Old San Juan one night event where graffiti artists, designers, painters, street and gallery artists wheat paste up their art and place a frame over it.

The purpose is to express the importance and value of street art. A frame and an indoor space is all that separates the pieces from being viewed as art as opposed to vandalism.

Bustin Loose in Brooklyn Pt.3 (Final)

So after weeks of working on this sick longboard skateboard from the Bustin Crew in BK, I finally finished it. Im super pumped with how it turned out, it was a long process in which i used many different techniques to get the result i wanted.....most definitely a learning process and it was a dope experience from the day i picked up the blank board at the shop to the day i brought it back to the boys to see their reaction.........Big shout to the guys at Bustin for all the support and to all my friends and family that were with me throughout the process(sup Jose aka big brotha). The board is now chillin in an Art Gallery in Puerto Rico ready to be taken to a new home. Enjoy the images hope you all like what you see.....

"DOES" arrives @ NYC...

There are a few artists around the world that inspire me to do what i do and push me to new levels of creativity, technique and of course stylistic flare....    Among these artist is one of my favorite graffiti writers DOES from the Netherlands. Does formed the LOVELETTERS CREW in 2006 and i must say it is one of the dopest graf crews in the world in my opinion...

I found Does a few years back while browsing the work of my favorite artist and late legendary graffiti writer DARE. Dare has been my biggest inspiration and mentor even though we never met. It was a great shock to me when he died since i always envisioned meeting him one day. Dare was one of the elite members of the LOVELETTERS CREW.

Since the death of DARE i made it a goal to work harder to achieve my goals and also to try meet and own a piece of art from each one of the artist that i admire and inspire me.

I contacted one of these artists (DOES) a few weeks back with the hopes of buying one of his canvases...........it arrived @ NYC yesterday and i wanted to share the moment with all of you.

Below are images of what i received.

Bustin Loose in Brooklyn Pt.2

For 3 weeks now i have been slowly but surely painting away and customizing this new longboard i picked up from the guys at Bustin Boards in Brooklyn. I have taken off the initial transfer tape,  re-sketched my drawing straight onto the board and have spraypainted some nice textures and a few hand painted details. Its been a long and tedious process, but i am super happy with the results so far.

Hope you guys enjoy what you see....feel free to drop any comments and stay tuned for the next stage Pt.3 of "Bustin Loose in Brooklyn"
FIRST STEP IS TO MASK OUT THE SIDEWALK.
HERE IS THE RESULT OF USING BLACK, GRAY AND WHITE SPRAY PAINT AT VERY LOW PRESSURE
AND NOW I MASK THE LETTERS TO THEN PAINT THE BRICK BACKGROUND USING SAME TECHNIQUE AS THE SIDEWALK....THIS TIME USING ORANGE, RASBERRY AND A LIGHT SKINTONE COLOR SPRAY PAINT.
And there we have it. After multiple masks i have achieved the textures i hoped for. Now its time to pull it all together by adding some brick detail and filling in the milkcrate and spray paint cans........

Till next post.....STAY UP!!!
